Iran has banned it's citizens from making Pilgrimage to Mecca

The Iranian government has annouced that it will not allow it's citizens to make the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina. The country has further freezed all Saudi Arabia imports.


This came just a few days after Saudi and Iran broke diplomatic ties following an attack on Saudi embassy in Tehran. According to Iranian government reports more than half a milllion people from Iran do make annual pilgrimage to Mecca. This generates alot of billions to Saudi Arabia inform of revenues.

Saudi Arabia announced late on Sunday it was severing diplomatic relations with Iran after demonstrators stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran. It gave Iranian diplomats 48 hours to leave.
It also recalled its diplomats from Tehran.

Iran's foreign ministry on Monday accused the Saudis of "continuing the policy of increasing tension and clashes in the region. Ministry spokesman Hossein Jaber Ansari said: "Saudi Arabia sees not only its interests but also its existence in pursuing crises and confrontations and attempts to resolve its internal problems by exporting them to the outside."
