Tanzania earthquake kills more than 13 people

At least more than 13 people have  been confirmed dead and 203 others sustained serious injuries after an earthquake measuring 5.7-magnitude hit Tanzania and the areas surrounding the Lake Victoria region. 

Confirming the incident police commander for Kagera region  Mr. Augustine Olomi, said  on Saturday that 11 of those who died were in brick structures in Bukoba.
A statement from the Tanzanian president's office said that he was "shocked by reports of the earthquake that caused the death of many people, injury to others and destruction of property."


The statement didn't provide specific figures of casualties.Tremors from the quake was felt as far as western Kenya parts of Uganda and Kigali, Rwanda.
