Uhuru Kenyatta still leads in National Polls by 42% ( 2017 Presidential Race)

President Uhuru Kenyatta will still retain his seat if elections were to be held today, this is according to a National opinion poll that ranked Kenyatta leading with 42% followed by opposition leader Raila Odinga who came second with 32%.

The survey, conducted by Palm Marketing and Research Company, indicated that Uhuru was preferred by many due to his track record of development, and fight to reduce corruption and negative ethnicity.

 Odinga was seen by majority of his supporters to be a reformist who will move Kenya to another level of prosperity. In fighting negative ethnicity and uniting Kenyans most respondents preferred Uhuru Kenyatta.

The survey was conducted between September 2 and 28 this year with a random sample size of 2,898 respondents. Other candidates featured in the polls included Wiper Presidential candidate Kalonzo Musyoka 12%, Amani Coalition Presidential candidate Musalia Mudavadi 4%, Deputy President William Ruto 3% and CORD Co-principal Moses Wetangula 0.5%.
Uhuru Kenyatta got 25% of respondents who preferred to vote for him in the 2017 general elections from more than 36 counties while Odinga managed to get 38% from his strong holds which included Nyanza, Western and Coast regions.
Kalonzo Musyoka is seen by many of his supporters as a focused leader although can only win the elections if he joined a strong political alliance, if he goes alone he might loss to either Kenyatta or Odinga.
Deputy President William Ruto (3%) still commands a huge followership from the Rift valley with 33% unfortunately from other regions he has less than 2% preference, he has got a lot of work especially in Nyanza, Western, Central and Coast region.
Amani Coalition presidential hopeful Musalia Mudavadi (4%) also a very potential candidate and a man to keep an eye on. Mudavadi has majority of his supporters from Western and parts of Nyanza. He is viewed by his supporters as a non partisan leader who will be able to unite Kenyans in terms of fighting negative ethnicity and corruption.
Moses Wetangula also one of Cord Key principal, is viewed by his supporters as one of the leaders to be watched come 2022.
However when it come to county politics most of the respondants were not satisfied with the performance of their governors especially when it come to employment and development matters. This is a clear indication that most of the current governors are likely to loses their seats come 2017 to their opponents.
According to the polls only 14% of respondents from 47 counties were satisfied with the performance of their governors and members of county assemblies. Governors who are likely to retain their seats included: Machakos Governor – Dr Alfred Mutua. He has 47% support from his county , His development record is good and most of his supporters would prefer to vote him come 2017. Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho. He has 44% support from his county. Joho is followed by Cyprian Awiti who has 42% support.

On the other hand if elections were to be held today Margaret Kenyatta would be the most prefer female President with 58% of respondents from all the 47counties followed by Martha Karua 23%, Ann Waiguru 9%, Charity Ngilu 3% , Amina Mohamed 2%, and Milli Odhiambo2%.
