US President Obama critic American lawmakers for laxity

US President Barak Obama has criticized lawmakers for failing to enact tighter gun control measure despite a wave of recent mass shootings in America.

Speaking at white house on Tuesday, Obama announced a series of measures aimed at reducing gun violence in America. He called upon the lawmakers and the American people "To find courage to do more."

"We are the only advanced country on earth that sees these kind of mass violence erupt with this kind of frequency" he said.

The executive directives will require more gun sellers to get license and more gun buyers to undergo background checks. The plan will also tighten enforcement of existing gun laws.

The defense, Justice and homeland security department will research "smart gun technology" in the hope of preventing accidentally shootings by children and to help identify lost and stolen guns.
