Nairobi senator Mike Sonko tops list of shame of worst performing senator.

A survey conducted by a pro-democracy lobby monitoring parliamentary activities in Kenya yesterday released a list of members of palieament and senators who never make any contributions to debates in the national assembly. The report stated that 27 MPs did not speak in the house in 2015, showing the poor quality of representatives that voters elected to parliament.

According to Mzalendo Trust director Jessica Musila who released the report , said the organization based its findings on Hansard reports obtained from the National assembly and senate. Among the worst performers in paliement included Hon. Alex Kosgey (Emgwen MP), Hon. Kipruto Moi (Rongai MP), Hon. Gonzi Rai (Kinangop MP), Hon. Oscar Sudi (Kapseret Mp) among others on the other hand Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and nominated Senator Hosea Ochwango have been ranked as the worst performing in the Senate, meaning they had the least or negligible contribution to debates in the house.
In response to the report Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has said Mzalendo Trust, was "bought and paid" by a top Nairobi city county boss. Sonko, who has declared interest in the Nairobi Governor seat, added that findings in the poll were used to tarnish his "good image". "Those politicising the polls using my name are cowards. I shall soon reveal who is funding Mzalendo Trust to conduct these shoddy polls," he wrote on his Facebook page on Friday.

"This is what I want to tell you political cowards who are trying to dent me starting with the City Hall one; nothing will stop me from taking the big city county job." "My record of contributing and tabling motions at the Senate is very clear in the Hansard, which captures all proceedings," he said.
Sonko noted that since taking office, he has tabled and pushed for a motion to retrench Kenya Railways staff members."I actively debated on the impeachment of Embu Governor Martin Wambora. I actively debated during the supremacy wars between the Senate and the National Assembly on the allocation of county funds," he added.

The Senator further said he filed three motions including one on the establishment of rehabilitation centres, the hawkers bill and the establishment of Ombudsman offices to curb corruption. "Also pursuant to Senate standing orders, I tackled and debated for more than three hours on the rampant corruption
