Cyber crime alert: WhatsApp Admins watch out

Being the administrator or an admin in a popular whatsApp group has never been easy and now the cyber crime policy say life is going to be tough for so many admins out there. "One black sheep in the herd could land the admin behind bars", says Crime commander- India, Mr. Swathi Lakra, pointing out that some contentious posts circulating on whatsApp have prompted the police to be extra vigilant and to initiate action against such posts.

From now on, any WhatsApp post that could promote enmity on ground of religion, nationality, gender, race, language and so on can lead to jailing the admins of such groups. In other word, no anti-national, communal or racist post are to be allowed in whatsApp groups.

Facebook users to be given legal right to delete all posts they made as teenagers

Facebook users will be given a new legal right to wipe clean all photos, messages and information that they put online before turning 18 under a new manifesto pledge announced by Theresa May.

The Prime Minister will announce plans for new legislation to amid concerns that people's career prospects are being damaged by comments they made as teenagers.

Social media companies will also face significant fines if they fail to stop people from "unintentionally" coming across pornography, hate speeches and other harmful material.

North Korea launches a ballistic missile in defiance to United Nations sanctions.

North Korea launched a ballistic missile Sunday morning that flew around 430 miles before crashing into the sea, U.S. and South Korean military officials said, in what appears to be the latest missile test in defiance of United Nations sanctions.

The unidentified ballistic missile was launched at 5:27 a.m. Sunday off Kusong north of the North Korean capital of Pyongyang, a South Korean military official said.

50 Year Old teacher arrested for Kidnapping and sexually molesting students.

A federal judge on Friday ordered a Tennessee schoolteacher accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old student held until trial, saying he is a flight risk and a danger to the community. That decision came after an FBI agent testified that the teacher Tad Cummins told authorities he had sex with the girl most nights during the 38 days he was on the run with her. The 50-year-old married teacher, who is a father and grandfather, said the sexual relationship with the girl began the first night after they disappeared March 13, FBI Agent Utley Noble said during testimony at a detention hearing in a federal court in Nashville. Federal prosecutors had argued that Cummins was a flight risk and a danger because he took advantage of a vulnerable girl and traveled with her across the country to have sex. "Here the evidence of danger is substantial," Holmes said. 

19 People Killed in an accident along naivasha-nakuru highway

19 people have been confirmed dead while several others sustained serious injuries in a road accident involving a passenger bus and trailer at Mbaruk area along Naivasha-Nakuru highway. Confirming the incident Rift Valley Traffic police officer Mr. Arome said the accident occurred at around 3am in the morning involving a bus which was heading to Busia and two trailers. 
“The bus was overtaking a small vehicle and come head on with a trailer.

 At the same time, another trailer which was following the bus hit it from behind,” said Arome.He said he had counted 13 bodies which were strewn on the road while a dozen others were trapped in the bus which had its right side completely ripped off.

Uhuru Kenyatta assures investors of a peaceful general Elections

President Uhuru Kenyatta, has assured the world that his government was committed to see a general election that is free and fair come August 2017. Speaking to a group of British Investors in London, Uhuru said that the constitution had created robust institutions to ensure that their is transparency during and after the poll and that business was unlikely to be affected by the process.“We have independent institutions such as the Judiciary and the electoral body ” .

The President told investors affiliated to the East African Association which draws its membership from UK companies with business interests in the region that the government will do everything possible to see that the process is peaceful. Uhuru further encouraged the investors to put up businesses in Kenya and help boost the country's economy.

Sex trafficking Nigerian pastor arrested in South Africa

The controversial Nigerian televangelist accused of human trafficking and sexual assault was found to have been living in South Africa illegally. This transpired after it was discovered that his permits were “issued fraudulently”.Testifying in the pastor’s bail application, senior immigration officer, Ivan Klaasen, said that he had also discovered that the pastor had six passports, and not four  recorded previously at Port Elizabeth Magistrate’s Court. Klaasen said that he had conducted investigations on the department’s movement control system which picked up that the pastor had traveled in and out of South Africa three times during the year 2000 without a relevant visa. 

Nigeria's economy grown by 2.6 per cent says IMF

The federal government of Nigeria has said it is optimistic of a modest recovery from recession and growth in the economy, as the International Monetary Fund, IMF, predicted a 2.6 per cent growth in the economy in 2017.Nigeria has witnessed a mixed fortune in her earnings from oil in the last three years either as a result of cuts in production in the wake of attacks on oil production facilities by militants in the Niger Delta region, or massive drop in crude oil prices at the international market.

From an average of 2.1 million barrels per day in 2013, production was cut by almost half by 2015, before gradual improvement in capacity to about 1.7 million barrels per day last year. The federal government recently announced production has increased to about 2 million barrels

Nairobi residence in fear over looming insecurity

Kenya: Residents in Rongai town in the capital city of Nairobi are fleeing to other parts of the city owing to the recent wave of insecurity that are being reported.

Some of the tenants from Kandisi have been forced to seek refuge with their relatives in other parts of the city, leaving their homes unattended.
Florence Jerotich, who owns a house in Kandisi, moved out on Sunday after four armed robbers attacked her and her family, making away with three laptops, four mobile phones, cash and a vehicle.

“I had just arrived home from a meeting at around 3pm on Saturday and called my house help to open the gate for me. As soon as she did, a man with a gun appeared from nowhere and tapped my window and ordered me to get into my compound as he followed,” said Ms Jerotich.

Wrangle in Nasa as flag bearer talks fail to take off

The opposition alliance’s retreat that had been set to start Monday has been rescheduled to begin today, according to one of the principals. Last evening, Ford-Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula said he and his colleagues in the National Super Alliance (NASA) would start their meeting today. Earlier, it had emerged that the absence of one of the principals, the expected entry of Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, and outstanding issues on power-sharing were among the reasons that prompted the postponement of the retreat. 

Also cited were concerns that too much publicity could undermine the delicate talks and apprehension that holding the crucial meeting with the ongoing contentious party primaries could send signals to the grassroots that could influence the nominations. Initially, the National Super Alliance (NASA) had announced that the four opposition leaders would meet on April 17, 18, and 19 to consider a report by the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) on the coalition’s presidential flag-bearer and power-sharing proposals. 

Uhuru Kenyatta still leads in National Polls by 42% ( 2017 Presidential Race)

President Uhuru Kenyatta will still retain his seat if elections were to be held today, this is according to a National opinion poll that ranked Kenyatta leading with 42% followed by opposition leader Raila Odinga who came second with 32%.

The survey, conducted by Palm Marketing and Research Company, indicated that Uhuru was preferred by many due to his track record of development, and fight to reduce corruption and negative ethnicity.

 Odinga was seen by majority of his supporters to be a reformist who will move Kenya to another level of prosperity. In fighting negative ethnicity and uniting Kenyans most respondents preferred Uhuru Kenyatta.

Woman Burn husband to Death for taking fourth wife

A 37-year-old man died on Thursday after his third wife allegedly splashed hot water on him. The incident occurred after a domestic argument between the couples over marrying a fourth wife. According to the Star news, Levis Odwori, a fisherman based at Mageta island, died after sustaining serious injuries during the incident.

His grandmother Resula said Odwori called her while undergoing emergency treatment at a hospital. She said she sent one of Odwori's younger brothers to the hospital but by the time he got there, Odwori had already passed on. Police have launched a manhunt for Odwori's wife who is said to have gone into hiding. The deceased's body was taken to Bondo subcounty hospital mortuary. The incident occurred a few weeks after a woman from the same area killed her pastor husband on suspicion that he was planning to marry another wife.

University lecturer charged with raping student

A university lecturer who teaches at Egerton University Njoro campus was arraigned before a Nakuru court and charged with raping his student. Mr. Evans Ng’eno was accused of forcefully taking sexual advantage of his female student at Soilo area in Nakuru. The incident is said to have happened on September 2, 2016 at night after he met the student and offered to give her a lift.

The student claimed the suspect drove her to his house and after a brief chart, he asked if she was ‘clean’ (HIV status) and then went ahead to rape her. “He asked me whether I was HIV positive and before I could answer his he pushed me on his sofa set, tore my clothes and raped me for several hours” she said. Ng’eno, however, denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Josphat Kalo and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.200,000. The case is set for hearing on November 3, 2016.
